A bird without wings
Without wings, is it still a bird? He can walk, peck, sing, but essentially he has lost. He can not fly. This could illustrate our lives if we lose our spiritual dimension. The essence of our being scrapped!
As the bird without wings, we can still eat, drink, sleep, work and function more or less normally in the world, but we can not rise above everyday reality, absorbed by them, we remain stuck in ground. With the habit of such a situation, we forget that we could fly. Our wings, virtually present, but unused and driving, we ignore them. We then seek to satisfy our many desires to the ground. Soon we will once again hungry and unsatisfied. "You made us for thee, my God, and our heart is restless until it rests in you." It St Augustine speaking. He too has been looking elsewhere. He knows what he is saying.
The human being as three dimensions. A bit like the three Russian dolls that fit into each other: the average in the large and small in average.
1. The great: our physical body. It is expected to pass through death.
2. The average psyche psychic or soul. (Emotional, etc.).
3. The small: our essential being or spiritual soul.
Unfortunately, often seen as a human being is a body and psyche. That's pretty useless to us. It is truncated. It lacks the essentials: his wings, his spiritual soul. This third dimension, the little doll, small in size, not the least important. It allows us to relate to things from above , a kind of openness to the infinity and eternity of the divine. It is faith, trust, which enables it. It gives the opportunity to pray, talk to God, to tell him our suffering and joys, to thank him for the gift of life and give us the hope of one that never ends. This is what flying, while keeping feet firmly on earth, knowing why there are, what you must do, and what awaits us after. All earthly joys could be amplified by being already colored by those of heaven.
So many people, even knowing laughter are fundamentally sad about not knowing how they work. We must go beyond the absurd to find true joy. Generally, this is not our comedians who are going to give it. It allows us to better get through the trials that can overwhelm us. And if we believe what Paul said St : "Everything is good to them that love God," we have enough here to bear more cheerfully many penalties.
Remember this tripartite conception of the ancients. It has not changed: body soul psychic and spiritual soul. The latter being the wings. It will be said again, more carefully: soma, psyche and pneuma (or breath, spirit). We can find this anthropology under different terms. So check whether we have kept alive the small doll, the innermost!
