I was recently asked: What is Assumption of Mary into heaven? A little surprised, I knew I mumble an unsatisfactory response. I'll try here to give a little more thoughtful in addressing the possible unknown who would pose the same question.
France, however, whether secular , was the feast of the Assumption one day of official leave. In the heart of summer, it can not refuse! But the younger generation probably do not know why. Caught in the social context of our times, I can understand.
The Catholic Church defines the Feast of the Assumption : "At the end of his earthly life, the Immaculate Mother of God was high, his body and soul, to the glory of heaven ". I do not presume that everyone knows what " The Immaculate Mother of God. Of course, nobody knows qu'immaculé means unblemished. But applied to Mary, Mother of Jesus, how to understand it, and how to explain it without going into long and tedious theological explanations?
In short, say that "The Immaculate Mother of God" means that this woman has not been marked by what in us is the cause of pride, hatred, jealousy, the selfishness, etc.. Basically, all that on earth, is spiritually at the origin of evil and death (original sin). In this, his Son Jesus, Son of God incarnate in her, (by virginal conception) has come to heal us. Hence the phrase: Savior.
